The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project is a World Bank supported Project that seeks to
address some of the critical environmental challenges in Nigeria, specifically, it pursues the mitigation of the problems of Land
degradation in Northern Nigeria arising from Climate Change. The Project approach is multisectoral; addressing the effects of
the Climate change on the Environment, Water Resources and Agriculture vis-à-vis their corresponding impact on the
livelihoods of the people. It is supported in Adamawa State through a government counterpart contribution and implemented
by the State Project Management (SPMU) Team headed by a Project Coordinator. The SPMU is responsible for the day to day
running of the project and works with the Federal Project Management Office and the Acresal Task Team of the World Bank

Strengthening practices and policies on ecological
restoration in-balance and building community
resilience towards climate change for a sustainable
environment.
scope
To this effect the Adamawa State Acresal Project Management Unit draws up annual plans in line with the Development

agriculture to boost agricultural
production, increase yields,
improve the earing ability of
farmers and improve the
environment.
In targeted micro watersheds,
strengthen the capacity of the
community on sustainable natural
resource use and management and

prioritized through Micro watershed
planning process.
